Grace Healey

Book Author

Hello! I'm Dr. Grace, an educator with a heart for sparking curiosity and fostering learning in young children. With academic roots that span Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown, MA, Suffolk University in Boston, MA, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from NOVA S.E. University in Florida, my journey has been dedicated to the art of teaching and learning.

For over two decades, I served as a technology and STEM teacher and district technology administrator for grades PreK-12 . My experience also includes years as an adjunct professor in graduate education, where I've had the privilege of guiding teachers toward embracing advanced learning principles and refining educational skills.

My book, Is There A Frog in My Umbrella? weaves a true yet amusing tale inspired by an unexpected encounter with a frog in Florida—a place where frogs often seek shelter in umbrellas, though seldom do they make such a surprising appearance. This story not only entertains but also illuminates the beauty of unexpected learning moments, encouraging children (and adults alike) to stay curious and open to the wonders around them.

Designed to enrich the learning journey, the book includes an elementary curriculum and a list of resources to extend the adventure beyond its pages. It advocates for an inquiry-based model that nurtures critical thinking and cultivates a personalized learning experience, aiming to embed knowledge deeply within young minds. Through the engaging lens of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, English, and Art), it broadens educational horizons, proving that learning is a boundless, lifelong quest.

Join Willow and me on a journey of discovery. Look beyond your backyard and explore the uncharted wonders of your environment. Through observation, exploration, and analysis, embark on a path to becoming a keen detective like Willow, embracing the thrill of discovery and the joy of learning that lasts a lifetime.
